Mr & Mrs Moffatt of Forest Hall live very close to the Metro track, so the rear of the house is fairly noisy through the day. They contacted Dave Kendall for some advice on acoustic glass. A few firms had told them to change the double glazed units to triple glazed as that would reduce the noise and be better than double glazing. The truth is a 28mm triple glazed window is no more efficient than a 28mm double glazed unit if it is an EnergiMAX™ unit with argon gas. It certainly does not have much affect on acoustic performance. Dave explained he would fit them an acoustic unit which is made with acoustic laminate and he explained about the resonance of noise and the frequency in which it passes through glass. They employed Dave to install some in the main bedroom as a test. The difference was very noticeable and the Moffatt's are going to get the other two windows changed in the near future. 17/10/2017
